When: Saturday, May 8th at 10:00 a.m.
Where: Goldthwaite Pavilion
Thanks to a grant from the American Library Association (ALA) and The Institute of Museum & Library Services (IMLS), Mills County has been given the opportunity to have a Community Conversation. Jennie Trent Dew Library Director Susan Lindsey looked at various topics and decided land stewardship is a subject that affects all new and existing landowners.
The Library will host this discussion with a panel representing local land resources. Panelists include:
- Olivia Kost, Texas Parks & Wildlife Biologist
- Tom Guthrie, Mills County Extension Agent
- Bruce Gillan, Mills County Prescribed Burn Association
- C. T. (Tommy) Head, 2019 Lone Star Land Steward, President of the Texas Sheep & Goat Association and Vice President of the Texas Botanical Gardens & Native American Interpretive Center.
The Goldthwaite pavilion is located in the Texas Botanical Gardens. The Gardens were built as a model to showcase Native Plants & Grasses. It is the perfect venue for this event. Please plan to attend. We will have our Mills County Archaeology Steward, Del Barnett on site to answer questions, as well. You are invited to bring any objects of interest you might want Del to help you identify.
Southside Tavern will be serving locally sourced lamb and beef following the program. We hope you will come take advantage of this opportunity to fellowship with members of the community and get answers to any of the questions you may have.
Mills County welcomes you!
