Our wickiup has been successfully rebuilt! A huge thank you to KC Kavanaugh from Salvage Shelters Tiny Homes for collaborating with us on the project. He was excited to help recreate the original tiny home.
The night before the build, we soaked black willow branches to make them easier to bend. The next day we were set and ready to go. We secured the frame using square, straight and diagonal lashings with hemp chord. Our helpers Calix and Pam helped secure grass thatch to the frame. It was a long, hot 10-hour day but we enjoyed the experience.
It’s a wonderful time to enjoy the Gardens. Bring the kiddos to play in our new wickiup, reconnect with nature and find treasures of all kinds.
