We kicked off the first official day of summer with our Nature, Art & Reading Camp. We started the morning learning about edible and medicinal plants in the garden, followed by story time in the amphitheater. The kids drew their names on special journals that we took into the garden to sketch inspirations in nature. We had fun listening to several more short stories about art and nature.
BOY did we have fun this week. With a little over 40 kids attending camp each day, we filled our time with drawing & painting, folding origami & paper airplanes, nature scavenger hunts & yoga movement, an archaeological dig and plenty of story time. HUGE Thank You to Armando Rodriguez Robles Studio for organizing all the creative art activities along with friend and artist Martha Guillotte Carson. They brought the magic of imagination into our garden this week.Thank you Beth Griess, children’s author and good steward of the land, for bringing her stories to life in our garden’s amphitheater.Lastly, thanks to all the volunteers who helped through the week. The camp’s success was made possible because of you.
