Regional Eco-Tours

Every plant tells a story and conveys a soil’s history – the rock from which it came, its past use and perhaps even its overuse. These plants on the rangeland have a purpose and a story – their value is interwoven with the American Indian.

The first “conservationists” on this landscape were the American Indians, but they did not “manage” the land. The American Indian worked with and lived on and from the land – in a true relationship founded upon mutual respect with the land and all the plants and animals that dwelled here.

— Melissa Sturdivant, Tribal Member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and Soil Conservationist in Goldthwaite with the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)

An eco-tour must be pre-arranged to tour an archeological site on one of our local ranches.
