Forrest S. Smith – Project Coordinator – Texas Native Seeds
Forrest was raised near Mullin, Texas. It was here he developed an awareness of the importance of native ecosystems and of the many threats to them.
What constitutes good wildlife habitat? In two words – native plants. At least, according to Forrest Smith, director of South Texas Natives that’s where it all begins. “When we talk wildlife habitat, we talk native habitat because that’s the natural and normal place for our wildlife to exist,” Smith says. “If a property has mostly native plants, then everything else falls in behind it.”

Mia A. McCraw – Central Texas Associate – Texas Native Seeds
Mia was born in Dallas, Texas and later moved to Austin. She was raised by a self-taught botanist and an avid outdoorsman, so love for plants and the outdoors was fostered at a very young age. She graduated from Texas A&M University with Bachelor’s degrees in Rangeland Ecology and Management and Ecological Restoration.
Tom Guthrie – CEA Agriculture/Natural Resources Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Mills County
Tom was born and raised on their family ranch at Santa Anna, Texas. He has been the County Extension Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources in Mills County since 2003. He graduated from Angelo State University with a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture and from Tarleton State University with a Masters Degree in Agriculture Education.
